STAR Moment Award

Every day in the Division of Student Affairs individual staff members do incredible work, often going above and beyond their required job duties. The STAR Moment recognition program allows any staff member in Student Affairs to recognize their peers or student employees at the Divisional level for these displays of outstanding work. Recipients are selected on a monthly basis. Additionally, a STAR Moment of the Year award will be given at the STAR Awards ceremony each spring.

Examples of STAR Moments

  • Providing exceptional service to students or colleagues
  • Developing a creative or innovative idea
  • Being persistent in completing a task
  • Showing determination to meet a goal
  • Motivating students or colleagues
  • Demonstrating significant improvement
  • Solving a difficult problem

How to nominate

Complete the online nomination form.

Nominations made by the last day of each month will be considered for the STAR Moment award of the month. After the selection is made, the winners and the nominators will be notified.

Recognition

  • Each month's winners (one staff member and one student employee) will be sent a STAR certificate and small token of recognition.
  • An email will be sent to the Division recognizing the STAR Moments of the month and the recipients will be listed on the Student Affairs website.
  • A STAR Moment of the Year will be selected from the monthly winners and the award will be added to the annual STAR Awards recognition ceremony.
