Redbird Edge Series

An immersive and transformative learning experience designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to excel in their current roles and be equipped for upward mobility at Illinois State University. Redbird Edge incorporates theoretical knowledge, practical exercises, and thought-provoking discussions.
 
As a cohort-based series, it creates a supportive community where participants engage with peers, share insights, and build lasting connections. The series contributes to the Division of Student Affairs by being a more collaborative, inclusive, and supportive environment.
 

This series consists of two tracks:

Track 1

Mid-Level Career Development Track (MLCD)- This track has been meticulously crafted to offer Student Affairs Staff the invaluable opportunity to enhance their personal and career development skills. By participating in this track, staff will excel in their current roles and acquire the knowledge necessary to explore lateral or higher-level positions within the institution. Classes are designed using the Division of Student Affairs’ 7 Knowledge Areas, with Global Perspectives & Worldview infused within each session.
 
          Requirements:
               * Minimum of 2 years in student affairs at ISU
               * Entry Level – Emerging Professionals
               * Supervisor support
 
          Schedule:

               * Classes will be held on the Third Friday, September – May (no class in December) from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.                     * 2025 - 2026 dates are Sep 19, Oct 17, Nov 21, Jan 16, Feb 20, Mar 20, Apr 17, & May 15

Track 2

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, & Antiracism Track (EDIA) - This track has been meticulously crafted to empower Student Affairs staff with the tools and knowledge to enhance their competency and capacity in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Antiracism (EDIA). Participants will embark on an engaging journey by delving into key EDIA topics through various lenses, including history, policy, intersectionality, and their profound impact on the lives of students, staff, and faculty. A comprehensive examination of these topics will encourage participants to gain a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding EDIA issues and allow them to develop a broader perspective to make better decisions in their work. The series aims to equip participants with the necessary tools to foster an inclusive and equitable campus community.
 
          Requirements:
               * Supervisor support
 
          Schedule:
               * Classes will be held on the first and third Thursday, February – May, from 8:00 a.m. – 1 p.m.
               *  2026 dates are February 12 & 26, March 12 & 26, April 9 & 23, May 7 & 21
