Coffee with a Cop, Lunch with the Law, and Dinner with a Detective was a joint partnership between Campus Dining and the University Police with each event targeting different hours of the day at different dining locations on campus during January and February, 2013. The purpose of the Coffee with a Cop program is to afford opportunities for the police and the campus community to interact in a neutral, non-confrontational environment. The result is improved communication and trust between the community and the police. These events afford officers a non-legalistic perspective to their jobs, and a chance to see how their actions are perceived by the public. Additionally, it allowed the ISU Police Department to gain valuable feedback about our performance and the services we provide.
